Hello to the new folks who are coming to the comic via my promotions at Ohayocon!  It was wonderful to meet you all, and I hope you’ve had a chance to take a look through the comic’s archives!  You can start reading at the beginning right here.

I got to meet some existing readers at Ohayocon as well!  Thank you all so much for coming by to say hello.  :D It really made my weekend that I got so many people who recognized The Hues after just exisiting for a year.

I’ve got some extra print stock left, so now is an excellent time to get prints and posters if you’ve been eyeing those!  My next convention is going to be Anime Boston in March, and LET ME TELL YOU.  It’s gonna be pretty huge, and this is my first time going to Boston, so I’m very excited.

Off to Ohayocon!

This weekend is Ohayocon!  I’ll be in the Artist Alley all three days with all sorts of stuff, some of which is sampled above.  Look for the giant rainbow ART HARDER! sign, or the giant sparkly Sami banner!  Hope to meet some of you and make some new fans!

Year One

Tomorrow is TH’s first anniversary!  It’s also my 9th anniversary in comics, and I wrote a few words about that over on my art blog if you’re interested in reading me being all introspective.

Thank you to everyone who’s been reading this year, whether you were there from page 1 or you just found the comic today. :D  I look forward to new comments every time a page goes up!  I hope we can build an awesome community here, and you guys are totally awesome, so we’ve already got half of that taken care of.

I started developing The Hues in late 2011, with plans to start the comic sometime in the first half of 2012, but life and jobs and such and such got in the way, which kept pushing it back.  The first chapter went through a couple rewrites.  But I thought I’d share one of the first pieces of concept art I did for the comic!

sah sittingFeatures and color palettes have changed just a little bit.  This was before Andy’s “thing” became the slick, outdoorsy biker girl look.  And in this version, Chapter 1 started in medias res, after the alien invasion/destruction had already happened, and the story up to that point would have been slowly rolled out in flashbacks. (Then I realized I am not J.J. Abrams.)  I got some feedback from a writer friend and retooled the chapter, and I think it was a much stronger opening than that one would have been. :)

Anyways.  I hope you folks are having a fantastic 2014 so far, and have a great weekend!  I hope to see some of you at Ohayocon next weekend.

Andy’s poster is up for pre-order!

New art! New art!  I’ve been wanting to make a series of posters of each of my characters for awhile, having done one for Sami some time ago.  One of my Kickstarter commissioners asked for a picture of Andy, and so I decided to make it a poster! (Shout out to Justin L. Hey-o.)

It’s 11 x 17″ on luster paper, and they’re up for pre-order right over HERE.  I’ll have a few to sell at Ohayocon in a few weeks, but if you can’t make it out, then these will ship out the last week of January.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2014!

This is just going to be a quick one.  I want to thank you all for reading this last year!  The Hues’ first anniversary is on January 18th, which is also my 9th anniversary of making webcomics.  (Wow that is a long time.)  This year was tough for me, but TH and its readers were definitely a bright spot in an otherwise difficult time!  I am looking up and onward to 2014, though, and I can’t wait to dive into some of plans I’ve been making.

I really appreciate you folks taking the time to read each new page, and I promise to keep ’em coming.  A Happy Near Year to all!
