Chapter 3 in Progress: Some pencils for you!
Hi folks! All the pledges are in, the Kickstarter is officially in the fulfillment stage, and the Artist is in. It’s time for your weekly update! I’ve been posting pictures of whatever I’m working on on my Instagram account, so you can follow me there to get the scoop in realtime. :)
This week, I started gathering the physical backer rewards. The bumper stickers are ordered (after a little design tweaking), and should get to me around September 12th. On Monday, I printed out all the backer-exclusive posters! They are signed and bagged, so they are ready to go. The buttons are printed and ready for assembly as well.
The arting kicked off this week, as well! I’ve been working on the first scene, which is 5 pages, and in general, I want to try working on this chapter in chunks, scene by scene, instead of my usual one-page-all-the-way-through and then move on to the next one. It’s been nice for going back and doing corrections, that’s for sure! Three pages are penciled so far, which means that the figures and scenes are drawn, cleaned up, and ready to begin coloring and backgrounds.
I got a brand new tablet today! I’ve been using a Wacom Bamboo for many years (I got it when I was still working on Garanos, it’s quite old) and its age was starting to show, so I ordered a Monoprice 6 x 10″ tablet after reading some good reviews from other artists. I’ve only played with it for a few hours since this afternoon, but Oh. My. Goodness. The feel of the tablet and the pen is really nice, and I wish I had done this years ago! The pressure sensitivity is a big improvement over the Bamboo, and this Monoprice tablet was actually cheaper than the Bamboo was when I got it, so I highly recommend it.
It’s also BIG! I knew I was getting a size upgrade, but I wasn’t really mentally prepared for just how much bigger it is. I could fit TWO of my Bamboo tablets on top of it side by side.
Anyway, enough of my shop talk! I’m going to get back to work, and take advantage of the long weekend to crank out some comics. I hope y’all have a wonderful weekend, a Happy Labor Day to my American readers, and I will see you next Friday. :)
