[Several days later, the duplex is mostly intact, save for a large tree that is leaning into the front of the house. The sky is gray, and the air is dusty and murky.]

[Around the back, Brian and Aaron are entering the cellar, arms piled with scavenged goods. Two shopping carts nearby are also piled with more stuff.]
[Aaron enters the basement first, where his mom is laid up on a very old armchair, her ankle wrapped and propped up on a pillow on top of a crate. Kurt sits cross-legged on the floor across from her, and looks up happily.]
Aaron: It's us! We found some more water!
Angela: Oh, thank goodness!
[Aaron bends down, hugging his mom in the chair.]
[Brian takes off his backpack in the foreground, speaking to the others.]
Brian: We, uh... we ran into some other survivors.
Kurt: [GASP]
